Grocery store services and assortmentAt Utö Handel, you’ll find everything you need. The store offers an extensive range of daily groceries. Fresh bread is baked every morning, and the coffee machine provides several types of coffee. Postal services are available, and the store also serves as Alko’s pickup location for items ordered from Alko’s online shop. You can also order all of Virtanen’s paint colors, wood oils, detergents, and thinners.

The Grocery Store's origins

Utö Handel was founded in 1932 by 14 families on Utö as a family business. Even today, the store serves customers year-round. Since 1990, Utö Handel has been a limited company, but the shares are still held by descendants of the families who founded the store.

In 1939, Utö Handel moved into the former main building of the Sandas homestead, which had been acquired by the state after the First World War. The house, located next to Vapenlagret, which can be seen on the right in the picture below, has since been demolished. The current store building was constructed in 1959, and over the years, many renovations and extensions have been made.
